Mud Wasp Pt II

So Maureen the Mud Wasp came back and built a new - and different - nest. Elsewhere in Australia Mud Wasps are known as Potter Wasps. You can see why.

After the last series of photos I wondered how long it takes the larave to develop and how exactly they escape the nest. I kept an eye on the old nest and after about 3-4 weeks the baby wasps had burrowed through the mud and left 4 distinct escape hatches. Yep, nature has it all figured out.
